Mom has an old Food Saver 550. I pulled that out of its hiding place in the bottom cabinet and put it to good use. We put up rhubarb (my daughter is addicted) and a case of blueberries we got from Bountiful Baskets last week.
We put up pecans every fall too. There are so many things that can be vacuum packed, making it a great way to save money. No freezer burn, easier portioning, out of season foods.
I also have thought about getting a dehydrator to make easy on the go snacks. Not sure yet. I will check around. I love dried fruits.
These are the recipes that I go to often. Some of them are family recipes, my own, and some because I have to use up what comes in my Bountiful Basket that week.

New Blog
I am starting another blog, for recipes. I have just started participating in this wonderful thing called Bountiful Baskets. It has prompted me to look our meals in a whole new way. How? Well, we get things in our baskets that we wouldn't normally cook with or eat. So I go after new recipes so we can use the fruit or veggie and not waste them.
I will label those recipes that make it here with a BB tag. BB for Bountiful Basket.
Go check out the website if you haven't.
